VW's Supercar

This is the supercar that VW unveiled at the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show recently. It was designed by Fabrizio Giugiaro, son of the late, great Giorgio, and is absolutely stunning. Although not officially destined for racing, the potential for racing in GT1 is certainly there.

VW states that it is only a design study and will not go into production. The engine is comprised of two VR6 engines mated at the block to produce a 5.6 litre, four-cam W-12 engine layout that produces 420 hp @ 5800 rpm and 391 lbs-ft of torque.

VW states that this engine is designed for later use in a luxury sedan or limousine. If the luxury sedan were produced, it would compete against such giants as the Mercedes S-class or the BMW 7-series.
